WELCOME TO BUENA VISTA, THE ENTRANCE TO THE AMBORO NATIONAL PARK
Buena Vista was founded as the Jesuit Mission of the betrothal Saints of Joseph and Maria in
November 26th, 1964. It is located 100 km Northeast of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, and it is set on a hill with a beautiful view of the Amboro National Park. (ANP)
The entire geography of Buena Vista is distinguished by its magnificent landscapes surrounded
by the exuberant nature, fauna and flora due its close location to the impressive Amboro Park,
which makes Buena Vista a perfect place for resting and enjoying the subtropical weather where there is an average temperature of 25º Celsius.
Buena Vista is the capital of the Ichilo Province which is approximately 15.000 Km2 (almost half
of the Belgium territory in Europe). Forty percent of its territory has been established as a
protected area.
The extension of the Buena Vista community is 3.311 Km2 which 1.885 Km2 is covered by the
Amboro National Park (ANP)
This area of such beautiful tropical humid forest is part of the department of Santa Cruz, and it
has become the main touristic circuit of the region when Buena Vista was declared a city with a touristic vision for national and international tourism due its first class lodging offer, and a calendar of festivities and events during the whole year that makes Buena Vista a well known destination for tourists.
